Cycling rules for the Kiel Region

Be the good rider

When cycling on your SprottenFlotte, safety is the top priority. Be alert and respect all cycling rules, including red lights, one-way street and speed limits. If you can, wear a helmet.

Make the right move

Don’t bike more than two people across, keep pace with the other cyclists, and pull over to answer your phone or check the map.

Let there be light

As soon as the sun sets, turn on the lights on your rental bike in the Kiel Region. This is how you avoid a serious fine as well as, you know, falling off your face.

Park everywhere but not anywhere

You can park your rental bike almost everywhere in the Kiel Region. However, don’t contribute to the organized chaos and make sure pedestrians can still walk on the sideway.

Look around, it's your ride

Don’t bike more than two people across, keep pace with the other cyclists, and pull over to answer your phone or check the map.
